Brazilian Agriculture Ministry Normative Instruction 32/2015
Wooden Packing Material Regulation

To help reduce the risk of introduction and spreading of pests in the country, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) has established new inspection procedures and phytosanitary certification for packaging, media or goods containing wood to be imported or exported by Brazil, under Normative Instruction 32/2015 on September 24, 2015.

In order to comply with the new Normative Instruction, the following data referring to any wood packaging contained in the shipment must be submitted to Brazilian Custom System for all shipments with effect from February 01, 2016. Shippers are therefore required to insert the following information in the Shipping Instructions submitted to “K” Line, with effect immediately from January 26, 2016.

Effective Date February 1, 2016
Scope All Brazilian Import and Export cargo where packages and supports are made of wood materials of any kind.
Responsible Party and Method Shippers at port of loading to insert the Types of Treatments in the Description of Goods when sending Shipping Instructions.
Types of Treatments
  • Wooden Package: Not Applicable.
  • Wooden Package: Not Treated and Not Certified.
  • Wooden Package: Treated and Certified.

IF WOOD PACKAGE WAS TREATED, PLEASE INDICATE ONE OF THE BELOW METHODS UTILIZED:

Treatment Code Phytosanitary treatment for quarantine purposes
HT Conventional thermal treatment
DH Heat treatment, by means of dielectric heating, with use of microwaves.
MB Fumigation with methyl bromide
