“K” Line America, Inc. Identified and Addressed a Data Security Incident

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA, January 7, 2022 – “K” Line America, Inc. (“KAM”), a shipping agency headquartered in Glen Allen, Virginia, recently announced that it identified and addressed a data security incident.

KAM identified unusual activity with unauthorized access within its network on March 17, 2021. A cybersecurity firm was engaged to investigate, law enforcement was notified, and steps were taken to address the incident. The investigation found that there is a possibility that some files with personal information may have been accessed. The following types of information were included in the files: names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and health insurance information such as member identification numbers, benefits selection information, provider information, and a limited amount of claims information.

KAM recommends that all current and former employees, and the beneficiaries and dependents of those employees, remain vigilant for signs of unauthorized activity by reviewing any statements that they receive relating to their health insurance. If they identify any charges or activity that they did not authorize, please contact KAM immediately.

KAM is in the process of notifying individuals whose information may have been involved in this incident and is offering them a complimentary membership to Kroll Identity Monitoring, which includes credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services. KAM also implemented additional safeguards and technical security measures to further enhance the security of its network.
