"K" Line and Yang Ming to upgrade Asia-Mediterranean Services

November 7, 2006 - TOKYO , Japan. In order to provide more stable and reliable service quality to customers, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" Line) and Yang Ming Marine Transport Corp. (YML) will harmonize current AMS and AMS2 services by introducing one new Asia-Mediterranean service with 7 x 5500TEU vessels effective from November 19, 2006.

Currently "K" Line and YML are jointly serving AMS2 service with 7 x 4300TEU vessels and YML is serving AMS service with 6 x 2000TEU vessels. Those two services shall be combined into one loop with 7 x 5500TEU vessels. All calling ports covered by current two services shall be maintained by the new combined service.

AMS and AMS2 services will be replaced by the new AMS service gradually, and will be suspended when the new AMS service has been completely inaugurated.
