February 1, 2006 -Tokyo, Japan. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" Line) takes pleasure in announcing the establishment of a new business base in Shanghai, China in its continuous efforts for reinforcement of bulk business in China. More precisely, a Bulk Division is being newly installed within "K" Line (China) Ltd., an overseas subsidiary of "K" Line, effective February 1, 2006. One "K" Line staff member will be sent from Tokyo in the near future.
As a fundamental assignment of "K" Line Vision 2008, the intermediate management plan of the "K" Line Group, we are committed to address ourselves to positively promoting strategic fields in regional markets. In that regard, China has shown remarkable economic growth, developing into an important and leading player in global markets in business relevant to iron/steel materials and products.
Opening of this new bulk cargo business base in Shanghai is aimed at pursuing new cargo movements and further increase business opportunities by strengthening our regionally-rooted business practices as well as at improving and developing our present services for currently existing customers.
