"K" Line Participates in Nippon Keidanren's Japan-China Environmental Tree-Planting Project

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. ("K" Line) has contributed ¥1 million for tree-planting activities to the Nippon Keidanren´s China Committee, which is jointly hosting the 2nd Nippon Keidanren Japan-China Environmental Tree-Planting Project (launched April 6, 2006) with the All-China Youth League, the city of Chongqing and other Chinese partners.

As a Japan-China partnership model business pursuing coexistence with the local community, this project plans to plant 435 hectares of paulownia, camphor and poplar trees in Chongqing's Changshou district between 2006 and 2008 for ecological conservation and flood prevention. The first project planted 573 hectares of trees in the same area between 2001 and 2005, so when the 2nd project is completed the total will reach 1,000 hectares.

"K" LINE Group's Environmental Policy states that "we will support and participate in social activities contributing and dedicated to present and future preservation of our earthly environment," and we place environmental preservation and social contribution at the center of our basic policies in promoting CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities, which is one of the assignments of our intermediate term management plan, "K" LINE Vision 2008+.
