"K" Line Container Vessel Summary

"K" Line is best known in the United States for their Container vessels. The distinctive red "K" Line containers can be seen throughout the United States on ships, double-stack trains and trucks. While these containers provide high visibility for "K" Line throughout the world, "K" Line also has fleets of car carriers, grain carriers, bulk carriers and tankers. Below is a brief description of the "K" Line containership fleet. Select the route for a list of vessels.

Container Ships

"K" Line currently has a fleet of 80 container ships (as of March 31, 2011), both owned and chartered, which transport containers to and from ports in the U.S., Asia, and Europe. Four new 8,000teu containerships having entered into service from 2008 to 2009 to cope with increasing global cargo movements, three new 6,400teu and twelve new 4500teu are being delivered and deployed to services in 2010-11. Our plan includes five more 8,000teu containerships in 2012.

Containers vary in size from 20 foot to 45 foot high cube. You can ship complete containers or participate in LCL (Less than Container Load) shipments, where the goods of different shippers are combined into containers.
