Effective Date International Regulations
1/1/2007   IMDG Amendment 33 is authorized for use with a 1 year transition period - effective up to and including 12/31/09
1/1/2003   IMDG- Amendment 31 is authorized for use with a 1 year transition period - effective up to and including 12/31/05.
1/1/2004   IMDG Amendment 31 implementation period ends and mandatory compliance is required
1/1/2005   IMDG Amendment 32 is authorized for use and will become mandatory on 1/1/06
Effective Date USA Regulations
3/25/2003   RSPA Final Rule: Shippers and carriers of certain highly hazardous materials must develop and implement security plans. In addition, all shippers and carriers of hazardous materials must assure that their employee training includes a security component. Federal Register (Volume 68, Number 57) 49 CFR Part 172 [Docket No. RSPA-02-12064 (HM-232)]
10/2/2002   DOT HMR Docket HM-215D final rule is required
1/1/2003   Newly manufactured portable tanks must conform to the requirements of "UN portable tanks"
1/1/2003   DOT portable tank specifications 51, IM 101 and IM 102 are no longer authorized
9/25/2003   DOT HMR; Deadline for compliance with the requirement that offerers and transporters of certain hazardous materials "develop and adhere to" a security plan meeting the applicable requirements of the HMR
10/1/2003   Docket HM 215C -"Keep Away From Food" Labels and placards no longer authorized
10/1/2005   Non-permanently affixed subsidiary placards without the Class/division, as appropriately displayed in the lower corner is no longer acceptable for domestic rail or highway transportation EXCEPT  for permanently mounted placards which may be used indefinitely provided the color and display requirements are satisfied

HM-215D Final Rule no longer authorizes package marking of word "inhibited" as an alternative to "stablilized"

Effective Date Canadian Regulations (TDG)
9/30/2006   On 9/30/06, Amendment No. 6 to the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Regulations has been published in Part I of the Canada Gazette for comments. The comment period is 75 days from the date of publication. Consequently, the comment period ends 12/13/06.
